Mattie’s Dream

Matt Milne

Matt once overheard his mum brainstorming a new project and stated that he too had a dream. He asked if he could have a dream even if he was disabled. His mum replied that he wasn’t disabled if he could dream big and yes he could achieve his dream. And so he dreamed… big! Matt dreamed of being ‘a real artist’.

Matt is an adult living with intellectual disabilities in a supported family and community environment. He desires to connect to the community through his art and articulates the true expression of who he is with vibrancy and diversity of colour, with his favourite colour being ‘rainbow’. Colour, texture and a variety of mediums bring Matt’s creations to life as they embrace people and influences in and around Matt’s community.

Matt is able to connect soul and spirit as we engage in the creative extension of his soul and spirit. His subjects are often his natural and emotional worlds and realities which allow him to voice his vulnerability and passion in a unique and real way.

The joy and experience in sharing his art with others champions Mattie’s dream.
