Stereo Stories in Concert

Mildura Writers Festival

Stereo Stories in Concert is a combination of music and memoir, narrative and melody, story and song. This unique creative collaboration mixes writers reading their stories to a live audience about a song that impacted them at a particular time and place, with musicians playing the song that means so much to them.
Author Mark Zusak had the band channel Neil Young’s Crime in the City for a performance in 2017 and had this to say about the experience:
‘Stereo Stories feels like the perfect way to make a writers festival that extra bit more special. The personal stories entwined with the songs transcends any other event I’ve been involved with. I bloody loved every moment and left just wanting more.’

Our guest writers have included Brian Nankervis, Andy Griffiths, Toni Jordan, Melanie Cheng, Tony Birch, Arnold Zable, Markus Zusak, Jenny Valentish, Nick Gadd and many more.

Stereo Stories in Concert is presented by Mildura Arts Centre and Mildura Writers Festival, and features guest writers Reg Dodd, Max Allen, Krissy Kneen, Professor Clare Wright, and Nick Gadd, all backed by the Stereo Stories band.
