Chapter 5 (Mallee Parley)

Aaron Bailey

Chapter 5 (Mallee Parley) delves into the core themes of interconnectedness between land, self, and humanity. It highlights how personal identity is influenced by one’s relationship with place, specifically the Mallee region.

The chapter revisits the original meaning of "parley" (a conversation or dialogue), connecting it to the human body and land as spaces for exchange and connection. The exhibition’s recurring motif of the shroud symbolizes humanity and faith, prompting reflection on how faith is perceived and gifted. It also redefines relics—not as sacred objects, but as fragments of memory and land—revealing the profound bond between people and their environment.
