Time and Place

Bruce Munro

Time and Place, by internationally renowned artist Bruce Munro, is a physical visualisation of how we recall and often reinterpret memories and moments. It is created using a process which allows the artist to explore basic building blocks that come from the origins of different experiences.

The works in this exhibition have been developed and inspired by Munro’s travels to Mildura over several years. By recording and interpreting his travel log, he has developed a finger-print-essence of his experiences. These works have evolved into an open visual (mostly) dialogue that enhances the art of communication.

Bruce Munro is best known for immersive large-scale light-based installations inspired largely by his interest in the shared human experience. Munro has the unparalleled ability to transform landscapes and evoke wonder and connection through the medium of light.

Trail of LIghts
In April 2025, Bruce Munro’s eagerly anticipated Trail of Lights is set to illuminate Mildura and promises to be a unique transformative experience merging art with the natural environment.

This mesmerising installation will transform Lock Island into a glowing wonderland where 12,500 firefly lights will dance across the landscape weaving together art and nature in a way that invites deep reflection and awe.

Accompanied by Munro’s captivating Gone Fishing sculptures, this luminous journey will turn the Murray River’s edge into an otherworldly dreamscape. As night falls the island will come alive in a spectacle of light, creating an unmissable moment of magic for locals and visitors alike.

Trail of Lights and Time and Place offer visitors unique opportunities to connect to the landscape through captivating art installations.
