In a momentous celebration of its 80th year, Mildura Theatre Company proudly presents Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, inviting audiences on a whimsical musical journey featuring an extraordinary car that soars through the skies and navigates the seas.

Adapted from Ian Fleming’s cherished children’s book and the iconic 1968 film, this Theatre Young Audience (TYA) production brings to life the enchanting story with a memorable score crafted by the legendary Sherman Brothers, known for their work on Mary Poppins. With its irresistible charm and family-friendly appeal, this blockbuster promises a ‘Truly Scrumptious’ experience that will captivate theatregoers of all ages.

The story follows Caractacus Potts, an eccentric inventor, who, alongside his spirited children Jeremy and Jemima, transforms a dilapidated race car from a scrap heap into a magical marvel capable of floating and flying. Their adventure takes a thrilling turn when the nefarious Baron Bomburst sets his sights on the wondrous vehicle. Teaming up with the delightful Truly Scrumptious and the quirky Grandpa Potts, the family must outsmart the Baron, his scheming Baroness, and their sinister henchman, the Child Catcher.

Packed with dazzling stage effects and timeless songs including the Academy Award nominated title track, this high-flying production offers a delightful blend of spectacle and heart, making it a challenging yet rewarding triumph for the Mildura Theatre Company’s milestone celebration.
